Organic agriculture consists of a method that, only by employing natural substances, that is to say directly coming from nature, excludes the use of chemical substances synthesised by the man.
The products coming from organic agriculture are obtained without using chemical synthesis substances and with total respect for the environment, applying techniques that link traditional agricultural practices and the new results achieved and offered by modern research.
To pursue these aims, organic agriculture has chosen techniques that respect the natural ecological balance: for instance, protection from noxious insects through the integrated pest management and the use of mineral, vegetal, animal substances and of resistant plants, ground fertility defended and implemented by means of natural dressings without pesticides.
Animals are bred using suitable methods and fed with vegetal products from biological agriculture. Their growth isn’t forced and their health is preserved with homeopathic and medicinal products of plant origin.
All these measures are aimed at producing foods of plant or animal origin with integral nutritional values.
